Members & invites

The Users directory is where workspace admins manage the people in a workspace — sending invites, tracking who has accepted, turning access on and off, and deciding which brands each person can see.

Admin only

Managing members and invites is an admin-only task. You need the right permission in your workspace to invite people, deactivate them, or change their brand access. If you don't see the Invite people button or the brand controls, ask a workspace admin.

Overview

From the Users directory (under Directory -> Users) you can:

  • Invite people by email and choose their access level (and brands).
  • Track pending invites and copy a link, resend the email, or revoke an invite.
  • See each member's status — active, inactive, or pending.
  • Open a member to deactivate them and assign brands.

Invited people only appear in the main users list once they accept the invite and set up their account. Until then they show in the Pending invites section near the top of the page.

Invite people to the workspace

Inviting members is admin-only. Each person gets an email link to set up their own account — you choose their access level and, where applicable, their brands.

  1. Go to Directory -> Users.
  2. Select the Invite people button (the person-add icon, top left).
  3. In the Invite people dialog, type an Email address into the first row.
  4. Pick an Access level (the roles you're allowed to grant depend on your own role).
  5. If your workspace has more than one brand, choose Brands for the row, or leave it as All brands.
  6. To invite several people, select Add row for each, or paste a list of emails into one Email cell — Packr splits the list into separate rows automatically.
  7. Select Send invites (the button shows the number of valid invites).

Tip

You can invite up to 50 people at once. Adding a row carries the previous row's access level and brands forward, so inviting a group with the same access is fast.

Manage pending invites

A Pending invites section appears near the top of the Users directory whenever there are invites that haven't been accepted yet. Managing pending invites is admin-only. Each invite shows the email, the access level, who sent it, and how long ago.

For each pending invite you can:

  • Copy invite link (the link icon) — copies the join link to your clipboard so you can share it directly, for example in a chat message.
  • Resend email (the mail icon) — sends the invite email again. The original link still works; this is just a nudge for inboxes that missed the first one.
  • Revoke invite (the trash icon) — cancels the invite so the link can no longer be used.

Once a person accepts, their invite drops out of Pending invites and they appear in the members table below as an active member.

How a person accepts an invite

The invitee doesn't need an admin to do anything else. When they open the invite link (from the email or the copied link), they land on a join page that shows the workspace name and who invited them, then they set up their own account — first name, last name, and password.

After they finish, they're added to the workspace with the access level and brands you chose, and they show up in your Users directory as an active member.

Note

The invite link is proof of email ownership, so the invitee doesn't have to verify their address separately when they join through it.

The Welcome back screen for multiple invites

If a person has more than one pending invite for the same email address, accepting one can attach them to several workspaces at once. When that happens, they see a Welcome back screen ("You're in") that lists every workspace they were just added to.

On that screen the new member can:

  • Select a workspace to open it first, or
  • Select Skip — pick later to drop into their default workspace.

This only appears when two or more invites are attached in a single sign-up or sign-in. A single invite skips this screen and takes the person straight into the workspace.

Deactivate or reactivate a member

A member's Status in the Users directory is one of:

  • Active — the member can sign in and use the workspace.
  • Inactive — the member has been deactivated and can no longer use the workspace.
  • Pending — the person was added but hasn't finished setting up or verifying their account.

Deactivating a member is admin-only. To find the control:

  1. Go to Directory -> Users and select the member to open their detail page.
  2. In the Quick Actions card, look for Deactivate User (this option only appears if you have permission to deactivate members).

A deactivated member shows as Inactive in the directory. If you need to restore access for an inactive member, or the deactivate option isn't available to you, contact Packr support. See Getting help.

Assign brands to a member

Within a workspace, members only see data for the brands assigned to them. Assigning brands is admin-only and is done from the member's detail page. (A brand may appear as a "Group" on some other screens — it's the same thing.)

  1. Go to Directory -> Users and select the member to open their detail page.
  2. Find the Brands card in the right column.
  3. Select a brand to grant access (a filled check mark means it's on); select it again to remove access.
  4. To give the member every brand at once, select Grant Access To All.

Changes save as soon as you toggle a brand. If a member should only work specific brands, leave the others unchecked. For broader brand setup, see Managing brands.

Common questions

How do I invite someone? Go to Directory -> Users, select Invite people, enter their email, choose an access level (and brands), and select Send invites. They get an email link to set up their own account.

How do I resend or revoke an invite? In the Pending invites section of the Users directory, use the mail icon to Resend email or the trash icon to Revoke invite. You can also use the link icon to copy the invite link and share it yourself.

Why doesn't my new invite show up in the users list? Invited people don't appear in the members table until they accept and set up their account. Until then they stay in Pending invites at the top of the page.

How do I deactivate a user? Open the member from Directory -> Users, then look in the Quick Actions card for Deactivate User (it appears only if you have permission). A deactivated member shows as Inactive and can no longer use the workspace. If you don't see the option or need to restore access, contact Packr support.

How do I give someone access to a brand? Open the member's detail page and use the Brands card to toggle on each brand, or select Grant Access To All. Members only see data for brands assigned to them.

Which access levels can I grant? You can only grant access levels at or below your own role, so the list of available roles in the invite dialog depends on your role. For what each role can do, see Roles & permissions.
