The onboarding board¶
While a brand is onboarding, its Brand Work Desk is built around onboarding. The brand gets an Onboarding channel for chat, and its dashboard becomes the onboarding board. The board shows every onboarding task grouped by milestone, the brand's onboarding questions, and overall progress. Your 3PL team and the brand's own users work here together until an admin completes onboarding.
Who can use this
Everyone on the brand uses the board. The 3PL team sees every onboarding task. Brand users only see tasks marked Brand-visible, and their progress counts only include those tasks. Anyone on the brand can answer the onboarding questions. Only the 3PL team can add a one-off question, and only admins can complete onboarding.
Overview¶
- Work the brand's onboarding tasks grouped by milestone, with progress for each milestone and for onboarding overall.
- Answer the brand's onboarding questions right on the board. Answers are shared with everyone on the brand.
- Add a task to a milestone, or add a one-off question for just this brand.
- Talk with the brand in its Onboarding channel while the General channel stays locked.
- Complete onboarding to take the brand live, then look back at how it went in Onboarding History.

Open a brand's onboarding board¶
- Open the brand's Brand Work Desk. From the Onboarding timeline, select the brand's row, or use the Open … workdesk button in a milestone's panel.
- While the brand is onboarding, the channel list shows the Onboarding channel first. General is locked and reads Opens after onboarding, and the brand's other channels are hidden until onboarding is complete.
- The dashboard shows the onboarding board.
The Onboarding channel is the brand's chat while it's onboarding, and every onboarding task is linked to it.
Track progress¶
The top of the board shows Onboarding, how many tasks are done out of the total, and a percentage, for example 12 / 30 tasks · 40%. An overall progress bar sits underneath.
Below the questions, each milestone is a group that you can expand or collapse by selecting its header. The header shows the milestone's name, the template it came from, and its own progress, for example 3/5. Tasks created in the Onboarding channel without a milestone are grouped under Other tasks.
Onboarding tasks are regular Packr tasks. Open one to change its status, assignees, or due date, to comment on it, or to follow it. See Task details.
Cancelled and deleted tasks don't count toward progress.
Add a task to a milestone¶
- Select + on the milestone's header. To add a task outside any milestone, use + on Other tasks.
- Fill in the task and create it.
The new task is created in the brand's Onboarding channel, under that milestone.
Answer onboarding questions¶
The Questions card near the top of the board lists the brand's onboarding questions and how many have been answered, for example 2 / 4 answered.
- Find the question. Unanswered required questions are marked required.
- Enter your answer: a date, a number, some text, or a choice from the dropdown.
- To save, click out of the field or press Enter. A dropdown answer saves as soon as you pick it.
Each answer shows who answered it and when. Answers are shared with everyone on the brand, so the 3PL team and the brand see the same values. To clear an answer, empty the field and save. A required question's answer can't be cleared.
Add a one-off question (3PL team)¶
When a brand needs a question its template didn't include, your 3PL team can add it for just that brand.
- On the Questions card, select Add question.
- Type the question and pick an answer type. For Dropdown, enter the options separated by commas.
- Optionally tick Required, then select Add.
The question is added after the brand's existing questions. To ask it of future brands too, add it to the template. See Add questions.
Complete onboarding¶
Completing onboarding takes the brand live. Only admins can do it.
- Open the brand's onboarding board.
- Once every task is done, a banner reads Every onboarding task is complete — this brand is ready to go live. Select Complete onboarding. To finish before every task is done, select Complete onboarding early instead.
- In the Complete onboarding? dialog, confirm by selecting Complete Onboarding.
When onboarding is complete:
- The brand's status changes from Onboarding to Active, and it leaves the Onboarding timeline.
- General and the brand's other channels unlock, and the Work Desk opens on General.
- The Onboarding channel's chat and board become read-only and disappear from the channel list. Their history is kept.
- Onboarding questions can no longer be answered or changed.
Warning
Completing onboarding can't be undone, because a brand can't go back to Onboarding status. Before you confirm, check that the plan is really finished, or that you do mean to finish early.
Review Onboarding History¶
After onboarding is complete, 3PL Admins can look back at how it went.
- Go to the Directory, open its Brands view, and select the brand to open its detail page.
- The Onboarding History card shows the date onboarding was completed, overall progress, and each milestone.
- Expand a milestone to see its tasks, who was assigned to them, and when each one was completed. Select a task to open it.
Tips¶
- Brand users' progress only counts brand-visible tasks, so their percentage can differ from what your team sees on the board and the timeline.
- Required questions are flagged on the board, but they don't stop an admin from completing onboarding. Check the Questions card before you complete it.
- To move a whole milestone and the rest of the plan, use the Onboarding timeline instead of editing each task's due date.
Common questions¶
How do I complete onboarding for a brand? Open the brand's onboarding board on its Brand Work Desk. Select Complete onboarding, or Complete onboarding early if tasks are still open, then confirm with Complete Onboarding. Only admins can complete onboarding.
