Notes¶
Notes are short entries you record directly against a record so the context lives where the work happens. In Packr the notes panel is labeled Comments, and it is a quieter alternative to starting a back-and-forth thread. This page is for everyone who works in a workspace, whether you're on the 3PL operations side or a brand user.
Who is this for?
Everyone. Reading, adding, and bookmarking notes is available to all roles. You only ever see notes for brands assigned to you.
Overview¶
A note (Comment) is a single piece of text you attach to a record to capture context — a reminder, a one-off observation, a heads-up for whoever opens the record next. Notes are visible to anyone in your workspace who can see the record.
- The standalone Comments panel is available on inventory (SKU) detail pages.
- On orders and inbound shipments, the activity area is a conversation thread instead — see Channels and threads.
- Each note shows the author and a timestamp, supports @ mentions, and can carry file attachments.
Note
A note and a thread serve different purposes. A note is a record-it-and-move-on entry; a thread is an ongoing conversation. Pick a note when there's nothing to discuss, just something to remember.
Add a note to a SKU¶
You add notes to a product from its inventory detail page, in the Comments panel.
- Open WMS and go to Inventory, then select the SKU you want to annotate. (See Inventory.)
- In the Comments panel, select the + button.
- Type your note. Use @ to mention a teammate — mentioning someone adds them as a follower of this record so they get notified.
- (Optional) Select the attach (paperclip) button to add a file to the note.
- Select Save. To discard instead, select Cancel.
Your note is added to the Comments list with your name and the time it was added. Notes are capped at 1000 characters; a counter near the field warns you as you approach the limit.

Edit or delete your note¶
You can manage notes you created from the note's options menu in the Comments panel.
- In the Comments panel, find the note you wrote.
- Select the ... (Comment options) menu on that note.
- Choose:
- Edit to change the text, then Save (or Cancel).
- Delete to remove the note.
- Bookmark / Remove bookmark to save the note for quick access later. See Bookmarks.
- Attach file to add an attachment to an existing note.
Edit, Delete, and Attach file are available only on notes you authored. Anyone who can see the record can still read and bookmark notes others have written.
Warning
Deleting a note removes it from the record. There is no undo, so confirm you have the right note before deleting.
Add context to orders and shipments¶
Orders and inbound shipments do not use the standalone Comments panel. Instead, their detail pages have a conversation thread for capturing information and discussion against the record.
- Open the order or inbound shipment detail page (for example from Orders or Inbound shipments).
- In the activity area, select Create thread if no thread exists yet.
- Post your message in the thread. Use @ to mention teammates, who then follow the record.
For how threads work, who gets added, and notifications, see Channels and threads.
Tips¶
- Use a note for a quick fact ("repacked into smaller cartons") and a thread when you expect replies.
- @-mention the person who needs to know — they become a follower and get notified. See Following and mutes.
- Attach a photo or document to a note to keep evidence with the record rather than in a separate email.
Common questions¶
How do I add a note to an order? Orders use a conversation thread rather than a standalone notes panel. Open the order detail page, select Create thread in the activity area if one doesn't exist, and post your message. To record a note against a product instead, use the Comments panel on the SKU's inventory detail page.
What is the difference between a note and a comment? They are the same thing in Packr — the notes panel is labeled Comments. A note (Comment) is a single entry recorded against a record, as opposed to a back-and-forth thread.
Where do notes show up? The standalone Comments panel appears on inventory (SKU) detail pages. Orders and inbound shipments surface a thread in their activity area instead.
Can I attach a file or mention someone in a note? Yes. Use the attach button to add a file, and type @ to mention a teammate. Mentioning someone adds them as a follower so they're notified.
Can other people see my notes? Yes. Notes are visible to anyone in your workspace who can open that record, scoped to the brands they're allowed to see.
