Workspaces¶
A workspace is the top-level container for everything you do in Packr. This page explains what a workspace is, how to switch between workspaces, how to create one, and what happens when you belong to more than one. It is for everyone — 3PL operators and brand users alike.
For everyone
Switching between workspaces and belonging to more than one applies to all roles. Creating a brand-new workspace makes you its admin — that part is called out below.
Overview¶
A workspace is your 3PL: all of your brands, orders, inventory, tasks, team members, and settings live inside it. Every screen you see is scoped to the workspace you are currently in, so switching workspaces swaps out the sidebar, brands, and data you see. You can belong to more than one workspace and move between them from the switcher in the bottom-left of the sidebar. After a new workspace is set up, a Get started checklist helps you finish the remaining setup.

Switch between workspaces¶
The workspace switcher sits at the bottom-left of the sidebar. It shows the name of the workspace you are currently in. The switcher only opens when you belong to more than one workspace.
- In the sidebar, find the workspace switcher at the bottom-left — it shows your current workspace name.
- Select the workspace name to open the list (it only opens when you have more than one workspace).
- In the list, select the workspace you want.
When you switch, Packr reloads the brands and data for the new workspace and takes you to the Brand Work Desk (its nav label is Home). Your sidebar, brands, and Pax chat all update to the workspace you switched into.
Note
If the switcher does not open, you only belong to one workspace, so there is nothing to switch to. See Belong to more than one workspace below.
Create a workspace¶
Creating a workspace runs the setup wizard. The person who creates a workspace becomes its admin (3PL admin) automatically, so creating a workspace is an admin task.
Admin only
Creating a workspace makes you the workspace admin (3PL admin) for it. You manage that workspace's brands, members, and settings from then on.
- Sign in. If you do not yet belong to any workspace, Packr sends you straight into the wizard. (See Signing in if you need an account first.)
- On the What's your 3PL called? screen, enter a Workspace name — this is the name your brands and teammates will see.
- Select Continue.
The workspace is created, you become its admin, and a trial starts automatically so you can begin right away. The wizard then walks you through connecting your WMS, adding your first brand, and inviting your team. For the full step-by-step, see Setting up a workspace.
Belong to more than one workspace¶
You can be a member of several workspaces at once — for example if you work across more than one 3PL, or you were invited into someone else's workspace while running your own. Every workspace you have active membership in appears in the switcher.
- Accepting a workspace invite adds that workspace to your account. If you are already signed in when you open the invite, Packr adds it to your existing workspaces rather than replacing them. See Members and invites.
- Creating a new workspace also adds it to your account alongside any you already belong to.
- Your data never crosses between workspaces: brands, orders, tasks, and team members are always scoped to the workspace you are currently in.
To move between the workspaces you belong to, use the switcher described in Switch between workspaces.
Finish setup with the Get started checklist¶
After a new workspace is created, a Get started checklist appears across the app until setup is complete or you dismiss it. It tracks the activation steps you have left and shows your progress as you finish them.
- Open the Get started checklist and expand it to see the remaining steps.
- Select an unfinished item to jump to where you complete it.
- To hide the checklist, dismiss it.
The checklist disappears on its own once everything is done. For what each item does, see Setting up a workspace.
Common questions¶
How do I switch workspaces? Use the workspace switcher at the bottom-left of the sidebar: select your current workspace name, then pick another from the list. The switcher only opens if you belong to more than one workspace.
Can I belong to more than one workspace? Yes. You can be a member of several workspaces — by creating them or by accepting invites — and every one you belong to shows in the switcher. Your data stays scoped to whichever workspace you are currently in.
How do I create a workspace? Sign in and the setup wizard opens if you have no workspace yet. On the What's your 3PL called? screen, enter a Workspace name and select Continue. You become the workspace admin (3PL admin) and a trial starts automatically. See Setting up a workspace.
Why do I only see one workspace name and no switcher? The switcher only opens when you belong to more than one workspace. If you belong to just one, it shows that workspace's name without a dropdown.
What happens to my screen when I switch? Packr reloads the brands and data for the new workspace and takes you to the Brand Work Desk (labeled Home). The sidebar, brand list, and Pax chat update to the workspace you switched into.
