Pulse¶
Pulse is a live view of today. It shows your open order queue narrowed down to what's ready, due, and late, how today's throughput compares with yesterday, and which brands make up those numbers. Pulse is the first tab you see when you open Insights, and it refreshes itself every five minutes.
Who can see this
You need the View insights permission, which 3PL Admins have by default. People who aren't admins only see the brands assigned to them. See Insights overview.
Overview¶
- See today's pipeline: total open orders, how many are ready to ship today, how many are in the Urgent Queue, and how many are late.
- See what the queue is made of.
- Compare today's orders received and shipped, labels, items packed, and customer messages with yesterday at the same time.
- Filter by warehouse, brand, and order type (all, D2C, or wholesale), and leave out orders you can't act on.
- Find the brands behind the numbers in the per-brand charts and the sortable brand table.

What "today" means¶
Pulse always shows today in your workspace's timezone. The line under the toolbar says which day, which timezone, and when the figures were taken, for example Today · Mon, Sep 14 · America/New_York · as of 3:11 PM.
The live indicator reads Live · updated 2m ago and refreshes every five minutes. The time counts from when Packr read the figures, so it shows how old they really are. Select the refresh button to check for newer figures. If a refresh fails, the indicator says Refresh failed and keeps showing the last figures it loaded.
Filter what Pulse shows¶
- Warehouse — pick a warehouse, or leave it on All warehouses. The list shows the same warehouses, by the same names, as SLA settings.
- Brand — pick one or more brands, or leave it on All brands.
- Orders — All, D2C, or Wholesale. Every order is either D2C or wholesale, so the two add up to All.
- Exclude — opens Exclude from Pulse, which gathers everything Pulse leaves out in one place. Excluded orders are left out of every number on Pulse: the tiles, the queue bar, and the brand table. Make your changes and select Apply.
- Order states — Backorders (orders with at least one backordered line) and Partials (open orders with a line already shipped). Both are excluded unless you turn them off.
- Statuses and Tags — leave out open orders with particular fulfillment statuses or tags, such as orders you've tagged as not your responsibility.
- Reset to defaults puts the exclusions back to how they started.
The status and tag options come from your open orders. The filters only change what you see on Pulse; they don't change any orders.
Today's pipeline¶
Today's pipeline shows four tiles for the open queue. An order is open when its status is anything other than fulfilled or cancelled.
| Tile | What it counts | Also shows |
|---|---|---|
| Total orders | All open orders | How many are on hold and backordered |
| Ready to ship today | Open orders whose Fulfillment SLA deadline is today and that can be picked now — not on hold or backordered | How many more are due today but on hold or backordered |
| Urgent queue | Open orders in one of your urgent statuses (Settings → Order Statuses) | |
| Late | Open orders that are past their Fulfillment SLA deadline | How many of them could ship now |
Under the tiles, a bar shows what the queue is made of. The parts don't overlap and add up to the whole queue: Late, Ready to ship today, On hold, Backordered, and Ready, not due yet. Orders due today that aren't ready count under On hold or Backordered, so the bar still adds up. When backorders are excluded, the Backordered part isn't shown.
If Packr can't read the Fulfillment SLA figures, Ready to ship today and Late show — and the bar is hidden. Pulse never falls back to the required ship date from your WMS.
How Pulse decides what's late¶
Pulse uses your Fulfillment SLA rules, the same ones behind the on-time rate on the Fulfillment SLA page. It doesn't use the required ship date from your WMS.
- The clock starts when an order's items become ready to ship in your WMS. If items were re-allocated before they shipped, the clock starts from the most recent time they became ready.
- The deadline comes from the warehouse's rule in SLA settings: a number of open hours after the order is ready, or a same-day cut-off. Closed days, holidays, and each warehouse's own hours and timezone all count.
- Late means the deadline has passed: if the order shipped right now, it would count as late on the Fulfillment SLA page.
- Due today means the order is still on time and its deadline is today. Under a same-day cut-off rule, an order stays due today until the day ends.
- An order with no clock is never late. The clock doesn't start until an order's items become ready to ship, so an order that has been on hold or backordered since it arrived has no clock, however old it is. It appears under On hold or Backordered.
- A hold doesn't stop a clock that has started. If an order became ready and was put on hold or backordered afterwards, its deadline still stands, the same way the Fulfillment SLA page scores it. The Late tile says how many of its orders could ship now.
- If an order has items in more than one warehouse, one late item makes the order late.
Hover over the Ready to ship today or Late tile, or their column headings in the brand table, to see the rule in use.
Today so far¶
The Today so far tiles compare today with yesterday up to the same time of day, for example vs 212 by 3:11 PM yesterday, with the percentage change. The line below each gives yesterday's full-day total.
- Orders received — also shows how many of today's new orders can ship now.
- Orders shipped — orders shipped today.
- Labels — shipping labels created today, plus labels per shipped order.
- Items packed — units packed today, plus items per shipped order.
- Customer messages — messages from brands in their channels today. Messages don't have an order type, so this tile always covers all orders.
An order counts as shipped once it has a tracking number. When yesterday had nothing to compare against, the tile says so.
By the hour¶
The By the hour chart shows today hour by hour in your workspace's timezone, with a dashed line for yesterday. Switch between Shipped and Received.
By brand¶
- What's in each brand's queue shows each brand's open orders.
- Shipped today vs yesterday compares each brand's shipped orders.
Both charts show the brands with the most activity. When there are more, a note says so, and the table below lists every brand. If you filter to a single brand, Pulse skips the charts, because the pipeline and tiles above already show that brand alone.
The brand table lists, for each brand: Open, Ready, Ready to ship today, Late, On hold, Backordered, Received, Shipped (with yesterday's figure in grey), Items, and Messages. The Total row sums them. Select a column heading to sort by it, and select a row to focus Pulse on that brand.
Tips¶
- Use Exclude to leave out orders your team can't act on, such as backorders or orders in a status you don't handle, so every figure reflects what you can actually ship.
- Keep Pulse open on a shared screen. It refreshes itself every five minutes.
- For on-time performance over days or weeks, use the SLA section. Pulse is only about today.
Common questions¶
What counts as late on Pulse? An open order that is past its Fulfillment SLA deadline: if it shipped right now, it would count as late under your warehouse's SLA rule. See How Pulse decides what's late.
Why isn't an order late when it's past its required ship date? Pulse doesn't use the required ship date from your WMS. An order is late only when its Fulfillment SLA deadline has passed, and that clock starts when the order's items become ready to ship. An order that has been on hold or backordered the whole time has no clock, so it isn't late.
Why does Pulse show a dash instead of a number? Ready to ship today and Late come from your Fulfillment SLA rules. If Packr can't read them, those figures show — rather than falling back to your WMS's required ship date. Refresh, or check again shortly.
How does Pulse compare today with yesterday? Every Today so far tile is compared with yesterday up to the same time of day, so the comparison is fair mid-day. Yesterday's full-day total is shown underneath.
How do I leave orders I can't act on out of Pulse? Select Exclude. Backorders and partly shipped orders are left out unless you turn them off, and you can also leave out particular statuses or tags. Select Apply to update every figure. Orders that are on hold or backordered and were never ready to ship are never late, because they have no SLA clock.
Which timezone does Pulse use for today? Your workspace's timezone, which is shown in the line under the toolbar. The hourly chart uses the same timezone.
How often does Pulse update? Every five minutes. The live indicator shows how long ago the figures were read, and the refresh button checks for newer ones.
