Creating & sharing surveys¶
Surveys let you collect structured feedback from teammates, brands, and outside contacts — either as a fill-in form or as a guided Pax Chat conversation. This page shows operators how to build a survey, set who can see it, and share it.
Operators
Creating, sharing, and deleting surveys are 3PL operations tasks. The Create Survey, Share, See Results, and Delete Survey controls only appear for roles that have the matching permission. Anyone with access to a survey can still take it via Give Feedback — that step is open to everyone.
Overview¶
From the Surveys tab under Feedback, operators can:
- Create Survey — build a new form or Pax Chat survey in the survey builder.
- From a survey's card, Share it, take it with Give Feedback, or use the more menu (⋮) to See Results or Delete Survey.
- Set a survey Public (everyone in the workspace) or Private (only chosen members).
- Send invitations to Users, Brands, Roles, All, or external email addresses.

Create a survey¶
Building a survey is an operator task and requires the create-survey permission.
- Open Feedback, then the Surveys tab.
- Select Create Survey. The survey builder opens at Create Survey.
- Choose a survey type (you set this once, when creating):
- Structured — a list of questions with various input types (shown later as a Form survey).
- Pax Chat — an AI-powered conversational survey (shown later as a Chat survey).
- Enter a Title (required) and a short Description.
- Optionally add a Survey Image — select the upload area and choose a PNG, JPG, or GIF.
- Set the visibility and fill in the type-specific fields (below).
- Select Save.

Add questions to a form survey¶
If you chose the Structured type, build the Questions list in the survey builder.
- In the Questions section, select Add Question.
- Enter the question text.
- Pick a Type:
- Free Text — a typed answer.
- Star Rating (1-5) — a 1-to-5 star rating.
- Multi Select — choose several options.
- Single Select — choose one option.
- Date Picker — pick a date.
- Tick Required if an answer is mandatory.
- For Multi Select and Single Select, select Add Option and type each choice.
- Reorder questions with the up/down arrows, or remove one with the trash icon.
Repeat for each question, then select Save.
Configure a Pax Chat survey¶
If you chose the Pax Chat type, give Pax (Packr AI) guidance instead of fixed questions. Pax listens, empathizes, and asks thoughtful follow-up questions during the conversation.
- In the Pax Configuration section, enter a Topic — what Pax should ask about (for example, "onboarding experience").
- Add Context — any extra background that helps Pax understand the topic.
- Select Save.
Respondents answer a Pax Chat survey by chatting rather than filling in a form. See what taking a survey looks like below.
Set a survey public or private¶
The Visibility selector in the survey builder controls who can see and respond to the survey.
- Public — visible to everyone in the workspace. Anyone in the workspace can open and complete it.
- Private — only visible to the members you specify.
To make a survey private, select Private, then add at least one member in the Members section using the Users, Brands, or Roles tabs (select Add Users, Add Brands, or Add Roles). A private survey cannot be saved with no members selected. On the Brands tab, a brand is the same thing the Directory calls a Group.
Private surveys show a Private lock badge on their card in the Surveys tab.

Delete a survey¶
Removing a survey is an operator task and requires the delete-survey permission.
- On the Surveys tab, open the survey's more menu — the ⋮ icon on its card.
- Select Delete Survey.
- Confirm in the dialog by selecting Delete. Deleting a survey can't be undone.
Warning
Delete Survey is permanent and removes the survey along with the ability to collect new responses. Only delete a survey you're sure is no longer needed.
Share a survey and send invitations¶
Sharing is an operator task and requires the share-survey permission.
- On the survey's card, select Share. The Send Survey window opens.
- Choose who should receive it using the recipient tabs:
- Users — pick people with Add Users.
- Brands — pick brands (Groups) with Add Brands.
- Roles — pick one or more roles with Add Roles.
- All — send to everyone in your workspace (available for public surveys only).
- For public surveys, you can also enter Additional emails on the Users tab — type an address and press Enter. These recipients receive an email-only invitation.
- Select Send Invitations. A Sent! confirmation shows how many invitations went out; select Done.

Invited people see the survey under Your Pending Invites on the Surveys tab, and email recipients get a link they can open without signing in.
What taking a survey looks like¶
How a respondent answers depends on the survey type. Anyone with access can take a survey — select Give Feedback on its card.
- Form (Structured) survey — questions appear one after another with their input controls (text, stars, checkboxes, radio buttons, date picker). Required questions are marked with
*. The respondent fills them in and selects Submit Feedback. - Chat (Pax Chat) survey — Pax opens the conversation and asks follow-up questions. The respondent types replies, and selects I'm Done once they've shared enough.
After submitting, the respondent sees a Thank you! confirmation. People who open an emailed link land on a public survey page that works the same way, without needing to sign in.
Common questions¶
How do I create a survey? Open Feedback → Surveys, select Create Survey, choose Structured (form) or Pax Chat, add a title and your questions or Pax topic, set the visibility, and select Save. See Create a survey.
How do I share a survey? Select Share on the survey's card, pick recipients on the Users, Brands, Roles, or All tab (or add external emails for public surveys), then select Send Invitations. See Share a survey and send invitations.
Can I make a survey public? Yes. In the survey builder, set Visibility to Public so it's visible to everyone in the workspace. Choose Private instead to limit it to specific users, brands, or roles.
What's the difference between a Form and a Chat survey? A Form (Structured) survey is a fixed list of questions. A Chat (Pax Chat) survey is a guided conversation where Pax asks follow-up questions based on a topic you define. You pick the type when creating the survey, and it can't be changed afterward.
Can someone respond without a Packr account? Yes. When you add Additional emails while sharing a public survey, those recipients get an email-only invitation with a link to a public survey page they can complete without signing in.
Where do I see the responses? Open the survey's more menu and select See Results. See Responses & analytics.
